A public meeting on the topic ‘Mechanisms for participation of the minority ethnic communities in public policy making’, will be organized on January 27, 2011 (11:00-12:00h)

 The public event will be organized in order to improve the status of ethnic communities in the municipality of Gostivar, raise the awareness for greater participation in the decision making processes on a local level and improve the relations and cooperation between the ethnic communities and the municipality of Gostivar

The purpose of the public event is to enable the participants to gain practical experience in applying the mechanisms for participation of ethnic communities in public policy making in the municipality of Gostivar.

The same day, at the premises of the municipality (13:00-14:00), an ‘Open Day’ of the Commission for Interethnic Relations from the municipality of Gostivar will be organized.

The Open day will be organized in order to hold a meeting, establish contact and introduction between the Commission members and the citizens from the municipality of Gostivar. With this meeting, the interested citizens will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the work and activities of the Commission for Interethnic Relations. The citizens will also have an opportunity to inform the competent institutions about their problems and needs on a local level in order to try and find a solution for them.

A public meeting on the topic ‘Citizens and interethnic relations - challenges and opportunities in the municipality of Debar’ will be held on December 27, 2010 (10:00-11:15h) in the hall of the Council of the Municipality of Gostivar.

The purpose of the meeting is to enable a discussion about the challenges and opportunities between the institutions, non-governmental organizations and ethnic communities from an aspect of interethnic relations.

The meeting will bring together local non-governmental organizations, representatives of the Commission for Interethnic Relations, representatives of the Council and public administration of the municipality of Debar, as well as representatives of the local media.

The public meeting is organized within the framework of the project 'Model for efficient communication between the Commissions for Interethnic Relations and the citizens (MEC)' financed by the European Union. The project is implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation and Common Values.

Public meeting on the topic ‘Transparency of the local authority as a precondition to inform the citizens’

A public meeting on the topic of: ‘The transparency of the local authority as a precondition to inform the citizens’ will be held on November 10, 2010 (11:00-12:30) in the hall of the NGO Support Center in Debar.

A public meeting on the topic ‘Commissions for Interethnic Relations and cooperation with NGOs and representatives of ethnic communities in the municipality of Gostivar’ was held in the hall of the Municipal Council, organized by the Office for Local Economic Development and Project Implementation at the Municipality of Gostivar and the Association for Support of Interethnic Dialogue ‘Common Values’ - Skopje.

The working meeting in Gostivar was held on June 23, 2010 in the presence of a number of local NGOs and media, representatives of the municipal council and members of the Community for Interethnic Relations (CIR).
